Hope Counselling Service
Background
Formed in the 1990s, The Hope Counselling Service offers professional counselling to the local community and beyond from its premises at 118 Brickhill Drive. Its service is open to all regardless of age, faith, race, creed, colour or social status.
Type of Counselling
The counselling we offer has a Christian foundation and adheres to Christian values, but it is not necessary for clients to have any church background. We use an integrative approach to counselling, so a counsellor may draw on several different methods of counselling (such as a person centred, Gestalt, CBT) depending on the client and the issues being dealt with.
Types of issues
We help people to work through difficult issues such as:
- anger
- anxiety
- bereavement
- depression
- different types of abuse
- relationship problems
- eating disorders
- guilt
- self acceptance
- stress
and anything else that life happens to throw at you.
Counsellors
The counselling team consists of men and women who have been professionally trained and are members of the Association of Christian Counsellors. Team members continually update their skills and receive regular supervision.
Clients
Clients come to us via a variety of routes, including self-referral, GP-referral and other agency referrals.
Appointments
Appointments are made at times (day or evening) that are mutually convenient for both the client and counsellor.
Cost
Although the cost of each session is £15, we do not make a formal charge for our service. Donations are very welcome and clients are encouraged to give what they can afford.
